In and Around Littlehampton

Crabbing

As well as all the fun of Harbour Park, there are loads of other things to do in and around Littlehampton.

Get back to basics and discover the fun of crabbing along the River Arun. No expertise required, just dip the bait in the water and see what grabs it! Don’t have the right kit? You can purchase crabbing buckets, crablines, bait and nets from The Gift Hut in Harbour Park on the day.

Promenade Art & Architecture

Littlehampton Prom has become one of the trendiest promenades in the UK, thanks to sculptural highlights such as the contemporary multi-coloured Longest Bench and the East Beach Café with its driftwood-themed structure, designed by Thomas Heatherwick. Opened in 2007, the renowned East Beach Café is a delightful spot to take in the sea view. www.eastbeachcafe.co.uk

Look & Sea Centre

The Look & Sea Centre is located further down the River Arun away from the beach. It hosts fascinating interactive displays and exhibitions about Littlehampton's marine heritage and history. The highlight of a visit to this fabulous centre is climbing to the top of its 5 storey observation tower, where visitors can admire the view across Littlehampton's marina, harbour and river mouth. On a clear day you can see the South Downs and Arundel Castle! www.lookandsea.co.uk

Arundel - 10 mins drive away

Arundel is a poster city for historical England. It is a delightful hillside town which boasts the Duke of Norfolk's historic Arundel Castle, a 19th century Cathedral, hill walking, traditional pubs and quirky antique shops. Combine a day out in Arundel with a beach day at Littlehampton for a rich and varied taste of the best of British holidaying. www.arundelcastle.org

Chichester - 20 mins drive away

If shopping is your thing as well as history, then Chichester is the place to visit! It is a historic cathedral city, founded around the time of the Roman invasion of Britain in AD43. Today it also provides a unique shopping environment and is considered an artistic hub by visitors with its art galleries and cultural events. There are ample parking facilities and wide cobbled streets with all the major high street brands. And when you’ve worn yourself out shopping and sightseeing, there are plenty of typically English teashops for a reviving cuppa! www.visitchichester.org

South Downs National Park

The South Downs National Park is one of fifteen National Parks in the UK. The South Downs is recognised internationally as an area of outstanding beauty and provides family-friendly access to the natural world and the English countryside. Here you can walk, cycle or even horse ride along the South Downs Way, stopping to enjoy traditional local ales at the many countryside pubs and inns. The Downs provide a complete contrast with the bustling energy of the cathedral cities, and make a perfect day trip as part of a long weekend by the sea in Littlehampton. www.southdowns.gov.uk
